Ultimate Guide to Hen Parties

We’ve been reminiscing TBT style on Twitter today about Hen Parties.

Planning a Hen? Attending a Hen? Or just looking for some fun things to do in the world – you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a run down of our must do Hen Do happenings:

Boozy Brunch

BH-Buidings-Greenhouse
B&H Buildings in London – my own Hen Do brunch setting!

Let’s face it, we don’t need an excuse to do this one. Bottomless Bellinis, unlimited Bloody Marys…oh and the food… start the party off right with the brunch of champions!   – extra points if you power through & do this the morning after too!

Just Relax

We could all learn a lot from Brannigan

It doesn’t have to be all go! Get a massage, slap on a face mask & jump in a hot tub; obviously with champagne in hand. The relaxing aspect of any Hen Do is mainly just preparation for what’s about to happen next…

Do Something

boat
We’re at home on boats

My MOH’s nailed this one; they hired a freaking boat! We cruised along the waterways of london drinking prosecco & provoking swans
Activities are a major part of Hen Dos nowadays – gone are the times where a night out drinking is enough – we want to DO things & the possibilities are endless!

On Kerens  Hen we went Kayaking & tried our hands at archery, we are ALL about the activities. Cocktail making, life drawing, why not  incorporate making your Hen accessories as an activity – saving money on glittery penis props for something with a bit of personal class. Although if glittery penises are your bag, you do you, I’m not judging!

& the subject of crafting brings us to our next must do…

Afternoon Bloody Tea

Eating a lot throughout the day is key, you don’t want to peak too soon! Afternoon Tea – the antidote to your morning bellini woes. Luckily for us, it’s an English Institution so you don’t have to go far to find it – my own was at Drink, Shop & Do in Kings Cross. (Again mad props to my delicious MOHs)
Afternoon Tea is the perfect time to play classic Hen games, although you might not be able to get away with the toilet wedding dress game – they’d probably frown on that. Pin the *ahem* on the groom, how well does he know you? getting everyone to draw their version of the future Mr & Mrs, are all fair game though.  Bonus points if you play Never Have I Ever.

Wine Not

WeWine - White, Red, Sparkling; we'll take it all ( little man optional but recommended)

Here at WeWine we think that wine is an integral part of any Hen. So why not hit up a specialist wine bar, grab a meat and cheese platter  & die happy. With Britain boasting an increasing number of vineyards, a winery tour is an incredible idea for a day out with the ladies. *Pro tip – keep an eye out for free wine tastings near you (usually bars launching a new brand) – most of the time they provide nibbles too*

Whatever you do on your Do, don’t forget our beloved grape!

Nocturnal Revelry

Keeping the party going all night long doesn’t have to mean going to a club – hit up a show, a late night screening or have some fun at a fairground. If money’s tight never forget the joy of a sleepover; trashy movies, popcorn and bubbly = actual bliss. Plus a great opportunity to buy personalised PJs, something you can never get enough of!

Failing that, do what I did and go see some men writhe around in giant bird baths….

Gift Bags

Personalised gift bags courtesy of my MOHs Lisa & Claire < dream team

The best part of any party as a child, don’t forget to put together some gift bags, jokey or serious, they are a great touch to a special day. My top picks include some ibuprofen, a face mask, nail polish in the wedding colours, a miniature of their favourite liquor (hair of the dog) & SWEETS!
